Services We Provide
Reliable service. Personal attention.
Built for families with complex financial lives
Families with complex financial lives deserve a firm designed for them from the start, not one that grew too large and layered services on top. GenEra Wealth was built on that premise.
Both partners came from inside the business. Martial Frindéthié spent more than 14 years in wealth management, including service as COO of an independent registered investment advisor. He saw what gets lost when a firm is built around growth rather than the client relationship. Jarrett Sharp came up through a financial planning practice in Boulder and served as its Chief Financial Officer. They built this firm because they had both seen it could be done better.
We are independent. We hold no proprietary products, earn no commissions, and receive no revenue sharing. Our advisory fees are paid directly by our clients. The economic benefits we receive from our custodial platform relationship are described in our Form ADV Part 2A. Charles Schwab will serve as our independent custodian, holding your assets in your name, with SIPC protection and account access that does not depend on us.
In practice, that structure keeps our interest aligned with yours, rather than with cross-selling, product targets, or routing you to whoever is available. A named advisor and financial planner who know your situation, are accountable to you, and have both the information and the authority to act on your behalf.
Complexity is the qualifier, not account size
GenEra Wealth is built for individuals, families, and business owners whose financial lives have outgrown a single product or a single conversation:
- Professionals and executives managing equity compensation and concentrated positions
- Business owners preparing for a sale or liquidity event, or recovering from one
- Families integrating education planning with retirement, estate, and investment decisions
- Pre-retirees and retirees working out income strategy and withdrawal sequencing
- Individuals navigating a major financial transition: inheritance, divorce, a career change, or the loss of a spouse
What connects them is not a specific account balance but a specific need for a coordinated approach to their financial life, handled by people who actually know their situation.
What we do, in specific terms
Four areas of coordinated advice. Here is what each one includes.
Investment Management
We build and manage portfolios around the individual. Your allocation reflects your timeline, tax situation, income needs, and risk tolerance. Not a template applied to everyone with a similar balance.
What this includes
- Regular review of your holdings, with rebalancing as your circumstances change
- Investments coordinated with your financial plan
- No proprietary funds, and no compensation for directing assets to specific products
- Your assets held in your name at Charles Schwab, accessible to you directly and independent of us at all times
Financial Planning
A financial plan is not a document. It is the ongoing work of understanding where you are, where you are heading, and what decisions sit between the two.
What this includes
- Retirement planning, including when to retire and how to structure your income
- Cash flow and insurance
- Planning ahead of a liquidity event
- Giving to the next generation without creating problems for them
- A plan revisited when your life changes, not just on an annual schedule
- Every investment decision anchored to the plan
Tax and Estate Coordination
We are not your CPA or your estate attorney, and we do not replace them. We coordinate across them, so your investment strategy, your estate documents, and your tax exposure stay aligned.
What this includes
- Looking at your tax return alongside your portfolio
- Flagging the withdrawal sequencing that affects your bracket
- Coordinating Roth conversions and charitable giving
- Working with your tax preparer so the two plans agree
- Making sure your beneficiary designations and account titling match your estate plan
Education Planning
Most families treat education planning as a separate track: they open a 529 and return to it in eleventh grade. We treat cost and financing as a question worth answering early, well before the options narrow, working alongside whoever handles admissions and academics rather than in place of them.
This is a deliberate area of focus. Martial Frindéthié built the firm's education planning methodology, and it shapes how we work with families from the time children are in middle school through the point where the financing decision is made.
What this includes
- Cost and net-price comparisons, school by school: what each school is likely to cost your family after aid, side by side
- A projection of what school will cost against your timeline, measured against what you have already saved, so you can see the gap
- Financial aid modeling, including your Student Aid Index
- A review of your state's 529 tax benefits and a savings action checklist
- A funding strategy, including how much of your own savings to commit and whether borrowing makes sense
- Looking for aid and scholarships your student may be positioned to pursue
- Sessions to answer your FAFSA and CSS Profile questions during filing season. We guide; you file.
- Comparing award letters and sequencing payments once offers arrive
How the work changes as your student moves through school
- Middle school (grades 6–8). Tracking savings progress, optimizing contributions, and confirming state tax deductions.
- High school, grades 9–10. Planning while it can still affect the aid picture: a base-year planning session, net price modeled school by school, and a school list, including scholarships your student may be positioned to pursue.
- High school, grades 11–12. Filing-season support and a continued look for scholarships. Come decision season, we help you compare awards and sequence payments.
- In college and repayment. Annual reviews and a repayment-decision session, with support through consolidation or refinancing.
We work alongside your counselor or educational consultant, not in place of them. Admissions, essays, and academics are their job, not ours. Aid and scholarship outcomes depend on each school and each family's circumstances, and we cannot guarantee any result.
What working with us actually looks like
Year one is the most intensive. We begin with a complete picture of your financial life: accounts, estate documents, insurance, tax returns, employment agreements, and anything else relevant. Most families arrive with financial lives that have accumulated rather than been designed: accounts at multiple custodians, an estate plan that has not been updated in years, a tax return that has never been reviewed alongside the investment portfolio. The first year is about building that picture and establishing a plan that coordinates across it.
Some of what surfaces that year is not financial at all. A family business nobody agrees about. A child who needs more help than the others. We would rather know early than find out later.
We review your plan on a regular schedule, and whenever your situation changes. The agenda covers investment performance, plan progress, and decisions on the horizon. Those reviews follow your life, not a standard script. Between them you have direct access to your advisor and financial planner. We watch for changes in the market, in tax law, and in your own situation, and we contact you when something affects your plan.
The relationship compounds. We’ll understand your situation more completely in year three than in year one, and that shows up in every recommendation we make.
